GlaxoSmithKline runs an annual awards programme to reward community based healthcare organisations.
Health Squared Communications was appointed in January 2007 to handle the PR and event management
for the 10th anniversary of the awards.
The challenge: Reinvigorate the 10th IMPACT Award ceremony and
undertake all the event management responsibilities. Secure coverage for winning charities and
GlaxoSmithKline. Write all copy for awards brochure and press materials.
Our approach: We advised on all aspects of the awards. We did
all the copywriting for award literature and press materials, PR for all winning 10 charities -
working with regional media, and national PR activity to raise awareness of GlaxoSmithKline’s
commitment to community health projects. We secured a celebrity judge, helped script the whole
event, arranged photography, and spent a week traveling around the country visiting all the 10
winning charities to speak to them and film them to produce the short videos for the awards
ceremony.
Result: the Awards ceremony was a hit with all who attended and
Health Squared secured a celebrity judge to add a little sparkle to proceedings, and numbers were
up by 100 to an attendance of 300. Over 30 pieces of coverage was achieved in regional
newspapers and radio stations, and national coverage in the Daily Telegraph.
Health Squared also produced a range of video clips for the award ceremony to tell each winning
charities story in a visual way.
