Pearl Medical is a provider of mobile communications to healthcare professionals in the UK. In addition to providing mobile talk plans and medical applications to those working in healthcare at preferential rates, it also has a dedicated GP community using BlackBerry devices to aid their work and access practice patient records while on the move.

The challenge: Health Squared was initially appointed in early 2005 to publicise this new service to General Practitioners (GPs) to grow the membership base and drive new subscriptions.

Our approach: We undertook advertising in trade publications aimed at GPs, wrote and designed direct mail pieces and handled website advertising. We also assisted in the creation of the website and its content. Since then, we have continued to use communications to help grow membership, but have also expanded the services we deliver to include media relations, editorial services – we provide a morning email round-up of the latest stories in the popular press, ensuring GPs are prepared for questions their patients may have – and we write a weekly newsletter for GP members.

Result: Pearl Medical membership is now pushing towards 3000 and the brand is well recognised amongst those working in healthcare. Health Squared Communications will continue to work with Pearl Medical as it expands its service to offering a choice of mobile communications packages to everyone working in healthcare, whether a GP, a hospital doctor or a nurse.
